Indian Demo Tour Event

Indian Demo Tour Event

We at Chesapeake Cycles are so excited about our coming Indian Demo Tour event at the end of this May. We are proud to be the region’s only Indian dealer since 2003. This legendary brand has a special place in the heart of the experienced rider and novice alike.

Brief History of Indian Motorcycles

Since 1902, Indian motorcycles have been offering the public innovative designs. It is the oldest motorcycle brand in the United States. Over and again riders on Indian cycles have been winning races and setting unparalleled world records. Indian motorcycles proudly served the U.S. military during both World Wars. During the early part of the 20th Century, Indian became the largest manufacturer of motorcycles in the world. The motorcycles were originally produced from 1901 to 1953 in Springfield, Massachusetts. The company was originally called the US. Hendee Manufacturing Company, but changed to the Indian Motorcycle Manufacturing Company in 1928.

It is no secret that the acclaimed Indian Brand has had its share of successes and failures throughout its 100 plus year history. The Indian Motorcycle Company closed its doors in 1953, and since then various organizations have tried to resuscitate the Indian Brand with limited success.

Indian Motorcycles are Reborn

In 2011, Polaris Industries purchased the Indian Motorcycle brand and merged manufacturing with their existing facilities in Minnesota and Iowa. They have done an amazing job of reviving this legendary motorcycle icon. Polaris realized the value in returning to the motorcycle’s originally visionary classic style. Since 2013, Polaris has marketed modern versions of Indian’s most popular traditional models.

Polaris is honoring American Heroes with a $1000 bonus on their Indian Motorcycles thru the end of 2015.

These motorcycles are the epitome of power and tradition. Polaris Industries believes in the importance of presenting the Indian Brand as it was originally intended, with pride and innovation. They are a company that gives back to its community. Honoring their military past, they have recently partnered with the USO. Polaris is offering a $1,000 “Honoring Heroes” bonus on all Indian motorcycles for active or retired military, as well as police and fire personnel. This manufacturer’s discount will remain a part of Indian’s commitment to the military for at least the remainder of 2015.
